Build a small fire on a nearby hillside with clear views towards Boston. Add damp straw and sticks as this creates more smoke. Using a flame-resistant tarp or blanket, collect the smoke as it rises from the fire. Quickly remove the blanket or tarp to release a cloud of smoke. Use alternating patterns to send message.
