Just a quick word about DeathWish and myself. My name is Greg Keane, myself and my business partner of nearly 28 years, Stephen Potter, are the proud owners of DeathWish Piano Movers. DeathWish is a Boston based, specialized piano moving company that was started way back in 1971 by Walter Terrazano and Tom Shaw. The company they created developed an almost cult like status in Boston not only because of the frightening imagery but also because of the attitude they had- ‘No one can do it better’.

This was the reputation DeathWish had when my friend Bo Carlson took the reigns. Bo was the right man at the right time. With his brother Craig, daughter Linda and Craig’s son Mike, the Carlson family carried the torch for more than 15 years. Continuing to pull off feats that other moving companies would deem to difficult.

Having created a company with similar interests across town years earlier, Stephen and I became respectful competitors of Bo’s- and fast friends. Both companies pulling off amazing jobs in the world of moving, without managing to step on each others toes.

Eventually the real world catches up to all of us. Bo had poured his body and soul into this business and while his soul was into it- his body told him to retire to Florida. Before we knew it, Stephen and I were owners of the legendary DeathWish Piano Movers.

With the purchase of DeathWish I was able to combine the talents of Mike Carlson, Rob Teeter and Paul Kapp with the likes of Sean Linehan, Gary Rand, Chuck Boudreau and Robby D. If any group of men could fill the shoes left by Bo, it was these guys.

Now nearly 6 years later, with the premiere of DeathWish Movers airing next week, our small company is at an exciting cross road. Chris Stout and his team from Notional have created a show about what we do everyday for a living. This show stems from an idea back from when Bo ran things. It took years for Stout to get the green light, but when he did- man did he run with it.

Reflecting on the handful of jobs that Stout and his crew have filmed, makes me think of all the heroics pulled off by the past legions of great men. They who proudly wore the dark skull while doing a job that others wouldn’t consider doing for one afternoon.
There have been literally hundreds of men that have sweat blood for this company, The awesome responsibility of this is not lost for one second on me.

With this show you will see a handful of us confronting different situations, some with extraordinary levels of difficulty. To all of you who have ever worked at DeathWish I take on the responsibility with great humility and pride. To all of you who have ever worked in this business and broke your backs in this thankless low paying industry, I hope this show can be some kind of vindication for all of us. Thank you, Greg Keane.
